A-CBT Certified Trainer Consultants are individuals who possess the educational practice and leadership skills to serve as a supervisor, trainer, or consultant for other developing cognitive behavioral therapists. They are committed to both the practice of CBT and the development of that practice to new trainees, or people who may be under their supervision in a professional behavioral health setting.
Are You Eligible?
Application Criteria for Trainer Consultancy
Certified Diplomate Member of A-CBT for (5) Years
Applicants must be a member of the Academy of CBT for a minimum of five (5) years to be eligible to apply to become an A-CBT Trainer Consultant. Once Certified, Trainer Consultants are eligible to conduct training services on behalf of the Academy of CBT.
30 Hours Minimum CBT Supervision Training
A minimum of thirty (30) hours of supervisory experience in CBT is required. Of this requirement, a minimum of twenty (20) hours in supervisory training sessions must be completed, along with five (5) hours of didactic coursework and five (5) hours of completed CBT supervision workshops.
Trained to Use Cognitive Therapy Rating Scale (CTRS)
Training in the use of the Cognitive Therapy Rating Scale (CTRS), and demonstrated fidelity on the CTRS is required to apply for Certification as a A-CBT Trainer Consultant. Applicants will be required to score two (2) provided standardized audio samples within one standard deviation of the mean.

Upon successful completion of the Certification, individuals can use the title "A-CBT Certified Trainer & Consultant." They must maintain their Diplomate or Fellow status with A-CBT and pay dues set by the organization's Board of Directors.
