A-CBT Certification Renewal Policy

Effective for the 2026 Renewal Cycle

This Renewal Policy ("Policy") applies to www.academyofcbt.org, and The Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy ("Company") and governs data collection and usage.

Renewal Requirement and Automatic Renewal


All A-CBT credentials are renewed on an annual basis. Certification credentials renew automatically on January 1, 2026, unless otherwise updated by the credential holder.


Renewal is required to maintain active certification status and continued access to all benefits associated with A-CBT Certification.


Deadline for Updates


Credential holders who need to make changes to their credential status, certificate information, or payment method must contact info@academyofcbt.org no later than December 18, 2025 to ensure uninterrupted renewal.


Consequences of Non-Renewal


Failure to complete renewal by January 1, 2026—including unsuccessful payment processing—will result in the following:

  • Removal of the Academy of CBT Certificate (required to maintain certification)
  • Loss of active A-CBT certification status
  • Removal from the A-CBT Find a Therapist directory
  • Loss of access to the A-CBT Listserv and professional community
  • Where applicable, loss of authorization to train or rate on behalf of A-CBT


Credentials may not be represented or used while certification status is inactive or lapsed.


2026 Annual Renewal Rates


The following renewal rates apply for the 2026 certification year:

  • Diplomate: $175 plus applicable processing fees
  • Trainer/Consultant: $225 plus applicable processing fees
  • Professional Colleague: $90 plus applicable processing fees


Processing fees are assessed at the time of payment and are non-refundable.


Completion of Renewal


Renewal is considered complete only upon successful processing of the full renewal amount, including all applicable processing fees. Credential holders are responsible for ensuring that payment information remains current.
