Affiliation & Certification with the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies provides clinicians with a strong professional foundation rooted in community, accountability, and continued learning. Affiliates have access to current research, opportunities to engage with scientifically oriented colleagues, and ongoing consultation that supports clinical growth. The Academy’s resources help practitioners stay informed, refine their skills, and remain confident in delivering high-quality CBT.

Graduate Student Affiliate + Diplomate Candidate Affiliate
Graduate Student Affiliate
The Graduate Student Affiliate category is designed for emerging professionals who are currently completing graduate studies in a relevant mental health or behavioral discipline.
Eligibility
To join as a Graduate Student Affiliate, applicants must:
- Be currently enrolled in a graduate program (master’s or doctoral level)
- Hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Provide an expected graduation date
- Submit a valid student ID at the time of application
Affiliation in this category is completely free until your graduation date.
Affiliate Benefits
Graduate Student Affiliates receive access to a rich set of resources designed to support their training and early professional growth, including:
- Full access to the A-CBT listserv, newsletters, and training announcements
- Weekly Friday consult sessions for ongoing learning and peer connection
- A one-time 50% discount code towards a future Diplomate application
Applications for the Graduate Student Affiliate category are accepted year-round. Simply submit your graduation date and a valid student ID with your application to get started. Joining is quick, free, and designed to support you throughout your training.
Diplomate Candidate Affiliate
The Diplomate Candidate Affiliate category is designed for post-graduate professionals who are actively working toward licensure and preparing for their future Diplomate credential.
Eligibility
To qualify as a Diplomate Candidate Affiliate, applicants must:
- Be a post-graduate, pre-licensure professional in a relevant discipline
- Provide proof of license eligibility (e.g., supervisor verification or state documentation)
- Submit a completed membership application
- Remain within the two-year pre-licensure window
Affiliation is offered at a reduced rate of $25 per year, for up to three (3) years.

Diplomate Candidate Affiliates receive continued support as they transition from graduate training into professional practice, including:
- All benefits of the Graduate Student Affiliate membership (listserv access, newsletters, training announcements, Friday consults)
- A 50% discount code towards their future Diplomate application
Applications for the Diplomate Candidate Affiliate category are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year. Applicants will be asked to provide proof of license eligibility and complete a brief membership application. Once approved, you can immediately begin accessing all affiliate benefits.
